Kinder heads to the Dome for the first time since 1978

Posted: Updated:

The Road to the Dome comes to an end this Friday with 1 local team. After 35 years, Kinder has made it back.

"You know I'm excited for them, especially for the seniors, it's their last year of high school. I came in, and that was one thing I talked about, we wanted to go to the next level. And we were able to do that this year." -Head Coach Bret Fusilier

"We've been dreaming about his since we were all little kids, playing pee-wee football. It's every thing every little kid dreams of and we're just happy we get to be a part of it." - Safety Kade Andrews

But this team has a special kind of confidence. They say they knew they'd make it to New Orleans since week 1.

"All the boys was talking all summer about winning state and working hard and  if we worked hard, we knew we could do it." O/D-lineman Trenton Kirklin

And the support from the community has been phenomenal.

"It's something special when you get a crowd together in your stadium, and to be that loud, its really something. But the main thing is, I'm just excited for them and the excitement around town is just unbelievable." - Coach Fusilier

One local alum isn't too worried about the competition.

"Obviously we're going tomorrow, so every body's excited and we're pumped up and we're ready. I don't care how big Many is, it doesn't matter. We're coming man, we're ready." - Jimmy LaBuff, Kinder Alumnus
