Holiday cooking with Mrs. Cookie, plus Hal's hunting report

Happy Friday morning to you!  Britney Glaser here with a look at what's in store on a busy Friday morning Sunrise:

*Are you looking for a festive dinner to whip up this weekend?  Mrs. Cookie Hauser has a family-friendly recipe that is easy to make and fun to say: cranberry ginger sloppy pockets!

*If you're planning on heading out for a hunt, you don't want to miss today's outdoor report with Hal McMillin.  He'll let us know some hot spots across Southwest Louisiana where hunters aren't leaving empty-handed.

*We desperately need your help to make Christmas brighter for 1,000+ kiddos across the area.  We'll share an updated list of the needs with KPLC's Community Christmas/Salvation Army Angel Tree and welcome a group of Beta Club students from South Beauregard Junior High who will be making a big presentation on Sunrise.

*The courtroom in Lake Charles is expected to be packed this morning for Jaime Day's sentencing.  She is the woman found guilty last month of abusing her nine-year-old step-son.

*$148.6 million: that's the new 2014 budget for the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury.  It's much bigger than last year's and we will tell you why they say more funding is necessary.

*If you haven't stepped outside this morning, you're in for a surprise!  It's much colder!  Meteorologist Ben Terry is tracking the cold front that has brought icy conditions to our neighbors in Texas and just north of us.  Find out how cold and rainy it will be this weekend.

Make it a Sunrise day!
