ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (RNN) – Vanderbilt couldn't stop Providence's late 18-0 run and lost 67-60 on Friday.

The game was on a neutral site as part of the Paradise Jam. The loss takes the Vanderbilt Commodores to 2-2, after leading 56-40 with less than 11 minutes in the second half.

Vanderbilt freshman guard Damian Jones missed two critical free throws during their scoring drought, and the Providence Friars (5-0) took advantage.

Senior forward Rod Odom was Vanderbilt's leading scorer with 17 points and five rebounds.

The Commodores out-rebounded Providence 35-34, but the Friars were better at the free throw line, making 70 percent of their shots, compared to Vanderbilt's 42 percent.

Vanderbilt didn't miss out on being part of a unique statistic in the loss. They are now one of only three teams in college basketball history to have made a 3-point shot in every game since the line was established since 1986, according to ESPN Stats and Information.

The Commodores next game is against the Morgan State Bears in St. Thomas on Saturday.
