LSU opened the season with a tough loss against UMass. The Minute Men outlasted the Tigers 92-90 in a fast and furious second half.
The start of first half between LSU and UMass was filled with poor shooting, turnovers and a lot of fouls. The last three minutes of the half ended with a scoring frenzy that continued into the second half.
The Tigers trailed the Minute Men 49-45 at the break.
Foul trouble hurt the Tigers in the second half, with a total of 54 fouls called in the game.
Johnny O'Bryant III led the Tigers with 23 points and 11 rebounds, but the star was hit with his fourth foul with just over 12 minutes to go in the second half.
The cold Tigers started the game shooting only 18%, but did heat up to finish hitting 44% of their shots (33-75).
The team struggled from the line hitting only 15 of 25 (60%) free throws.
Andre Stringer added 21 points for the Tigers.
Mickey Jordan scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Anthony Hickey finished with 13 points and seven assists for the Tigers.
Jarell Martin left early in the game with an ankle injury and did not return.
Next up for the talented Tigers will be Northwestern St., Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Maravich Assembly Center.
