One person killed in vehicle vs. pedestrian wreck

LINDALE, TX (KLTV) -

Lindale police are calling the death of a man on Thursday evening a "total accident."

Around 7:45 on Thursday night, police say a man was crossing the street in the 3400 block of Highway 69, when he was hit by an SUV headed toward Lindale.

The man, who has not yet been identified, died at the scene. 

"They hit in front of The Hampton Inn and Best Western Inn and he was laying right in front of the Taco Bell. His stuff is in a trail. He was literally knocked out of his shoes." says Felicia Sutton, a woman who witnessed the incident. 

"It's hard to get back to work. This is all I can think about," says Kaila Chapman, another witness at the scene. 

The driver of the car that hit him is cooperating with police in their investigation of the accident, and will not be ticketed. Police say the man was crossing the street in the dark, and the driver simply did not see him.
