Two killed in head-on collision in Monroe

MONROE, La. (AP) - A high school football player and one other person have been killed in a wreck in north Louisiana's Ouachita Parish.

Louisiana State Police say the wreck took place Saturday afternoon near Monroe.

A news release says a 2004 Cadillac Escalade, driven by 63-year-old Howard Coleman of Monroe, was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 594. Police say it crossed the center line and struck a 2008 Honda Accord, head on. The Honda was driven by 17-year-old Dillon Neal of Monroe, and it was traveling east on Highway 594.

Coleman and Neal were killed, and a passenger in Neal's car was hospitalized.

The News-Star reports Neal was a football player for Ouachita Parish High School.

State Police say Neal was wearing a seat belt, but Coleman was not. An investigation continues.
