ALLEN PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

Officials say a blown-out well near Kinder is capped and under control.

Justin Furnace, with Hilcorp Energy, company released the following statement:

"At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Sunday we were able to cap the well bringing it under control and safely securing the site. Hilcorp personnel have continued working with state regulators on trying to identify the cause of the well control issue. We have also begun working with the appropriate environmental agencies on a plan to determine what will need to be done to properly restore the location. Hilcorp will continue to diligently work with the all stakeholders to fully address this incident."

Louisiana State Police said the well blew out Thursday on Kinder Pump Road, about seven miles northwest of Kinder, in Allen Parish.

Several camps nearby were off limits to their owners, according to officials.

A witness said the blow out set a nearby truck on fire.

There were no reports of injuries.
