CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

The man accused in the murder of a toddler has entered a not guilty plea in 14th Judicial District Court in Calcasieu Parish.

Trent Dubroc, 24, is accused of throwing his girlfriend's 13-month-old child against a wall out of frustration, causing fatal injuries in September.

An arraignment was held Wednesday morning.

Dubroc is charged with second-degree murder in the case. He has requested a trial by jury.

At the time, officials said Dubroc didn't tell anyone what had happened until the child got to the hospital and was diagnosed with a skull fracture.

The child was transferred to a Baton Rouge hospital on Sept. 28, where the child died after being taken off life support.
