McNeese prepares for SLU, Khalil Thomas, & New Polls

This Saturday the Pokes welcome Southeastern Louisiana, who actually has the same conference record: 3-0.

Last year the Lions took away a very close 25-24 victory; however, Cowboys hold a 22-16 lead in the all time series, and, since 2003, McNeese is 4-1 at home. But, Southeastern is on a 5 game winning streak, and Coach Viator says the Lions skill begins with Bryan Bennett.

"Southeastern this week, we're the only teams that are undefeated in the league, so it starts with Bennett, the QB transfer from Oregon. He's a really good football player. Kind of everybody else by committee, so to speak, kind of like us. Not necessarily anybody at the top of the individual categories, but what a good job he does of getting the ball around. He's a really good football player. He's a true dual threat guy. He can run and throw, and he's good." -Viator

McNeese kick returner Khalil Thomas has been named the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Kick Returner of the Week after 94-yard touchdown return at Nicholls helped lead McNeese to a 55-30 win.

Also, the FCS Coaches and Sports Network polls came out Monday, October 28th. No change in the top 5 for either, McNeese also staying put at 7 in Coaches and 4 in SN. Southeastern Louisiana comes in at 25 on both polls, making this Saturday (November 2) the 4th time this season McNeese has played a team in the Top 25.
