Lake Charles woman in custody after shooting

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A Lake Charles woman suspected in a weekend shooting turned herself into police.

Lake Charles Police said Brittney Renee Vital, 28, turned herself in around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Lake Charles Police officers were dispatched to 12th Street and 9th Avenue in reference to a shooting on Friday night, shortly after midnight .

Upon arrival, officers found a victim that was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. 

According to officers, the shooting happened at Vital's home at 2417 11th Street.

Police officials said the victim and suspect were at 2417 11th Street when an argument ensued and escalated to Vital shooting the victim. 

Vital is charged with attempted second-degree murder. Judge Clayton Davis set her bond at $1.5 million.

    A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting in DeQuincy, according to Captain Tom Threet, with the DeQuincy Police Department.  Threet says the shooting took place on Bruce Street. Anthony Wayne Perkins has been charged with 5 counts of attempted murder, says Threet.  Perkins has been booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center with no bond.
