LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) -

A 57-year-old man from Texas was arrested Friday morning after he caused a disturbance on flight departing from the Lafayette Regional Airport.

The incident happened at roughly 5:40 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25 on United Airline's flight 4568. A deputy with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office had to remove Alan Paul Glombicki after he allegedly refused to comply with safety protocols.

"He was highly intoxicated before he boarded the plane," Cpt. Kip Judice, Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, said. "When he walked onto the plane, he tried to go to the bathroom but was unable to open the door. He then walked to the front of the plane and entered the cockpit. After he was escorted to his seat, the flight attendant continued to have issues with him, so she called for a deputy to help assist."

The deputy wrote in the affidavit that Glombicki was "causing a hazard to staff on the plane as well as the safety of passengers."

Glombicki was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace by intoxication. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

Officials did say that the flight, which was headed to Houston, was delayed for an extended period. Cpt. Judice noted that Glombicki is an employee at the University of Texas.
