    Head Coach Justin Hill wanted to gather young baseball players, get them out at Cowboy Diamond, and teach the basics of baseball. McNeese senior Cecilia Okoye has been named to the 2013-14 Southland Conference women's basketball team as a second team selection as announced by the league office Thursday.

The native of Mansfield, Tx., and the 2012-13 Southland Conference "Newcomer of the Year", led the Cowgirls and ranked fifth in the Southland Conference with a 50.0 field goal shooting percent last season. Okoye also led the team with 7.1 rpg. and was third in scoring with 9.1 ppg.
 
The Cowgirls will open their season on Nov. 8 when they will host Wiley College at 7 p.m. at Burton Coliseum. Season tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased by calling the McNeese ticket office at (337) 475-4MSU.
