LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A Calcasieu Parish grand jury on Thursday indicted Trent Alan Dubroc, 24, on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of a 13-month old baby in September.

Sheriff's officials said Dubroc, of Sulphur, was the boyfriend of the baby's mother. Deputies said Dubroc admitted to throwing the baby across a room out of frustration.

Dubroc's bond is now set at $5 million. It had been set at $1.5 million. Initially arrested on a cruelty to a juvenile charge, Thursday's grand jury indictment upgraded the charge.

At the time, officials said Dubroc didn't tell anyone what had happened until the child got to the hospital and was diagnosed with a skull fracture.

The child was transferred to a Baton Rouge hospital on Sept. 28, where the child died after being taken off life support.
