Man shot to death, then run over by truck

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A man is dead after being shot in the street Wednesday night. It happened near the corner of North Foster Drive and Sherwood Street around 9:45 p.m.

According to Baton Rouge Police, the victim was shot multiple times by black male suspects riding bicycles. The 54-year-old man who was shot was walking down the sidewalk of North Foster Drive.

Police found the victim lying face down in the roadway. They say the man was shot, then he was hit by a pickup truck that is believed to be white in color.

The victim has not yet been identified.

Police said witnesses reported seeing three men ride away from the scene on bicycles right after the shooting.

The motive for this shooting is unknown at this time.  Anyone with information on this shooting is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.

    One local fraternity made sure some families in Southwest Louisiana had a fully cooked meal to enjoy for Christmas. "We have turkeys and hams, but it's enough food in the box to feed a family of eight," said  Mark Gallashaw, president of Kappa Alpha Psi's Lake Charles Alumni Chapter. Thirty-five boxes of cooked meals are getting ready to be delivered to families across Southwest Louisiana.

    The Lake Charles Police Department has arrested one person after a nearly 20-minute pursuit Saturday afternoon. LCPD received a call of a person shooting a firearm from a vehicle on the 1900 block of Prejean Drive in the afternoon, said LCPD Deputy Chief Mark Kraus. Police located the vehicle near Hwy 14. A 19-minute pursuit then ensued, and ended with a suspect arrested.
