Text to Fostoria shooting victim: ‘We must all equally suffer’

TIFFIN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A police officer on the scene the day of a deadly shooting in Fostoria took the stand Wednesday in the murder trial for a Perrysburg man.

Detective Gabriel Wedge of the Fostoria Police Department was on the scene July 28 after a Tyeesha Snowden was shot seven times and her mother, Lisa Stowers, was fatally shot as they sat in their car in Snowden's grandmother's driveway.

"It's the middle of the day, people heard gunshots, there's cop cars everywhere, so it drew a lot of attention," Wedge said in court.

Wedge says his brother lives in the neighborhood and was the first one to alert him of the gunshots.

Three surveillance videos from Gander Mountain were played for the court. Prosecutors say the videos show Dixson purchasing bullets in the store the day before the shooting, but two African American men could be seen walking down the aisle. When Wedge was asked if he could identify either of the men as Dixson, he said he couldn't.

Prosecutors also showed more text messages they say Dixson sent to Snowden after their breakup. One was sent the morning of the shooting from a sender identified only as "Cap" in the cell phone. It read, "We must all equally suffer."

Snowden's sister Danielle Stowers also testified Wednesday. Stowers says she was in the car with her mother and sister just moments before the shooting, but got out and went inside her grandmother's home.

Dixson's defense will work to prove there is reasonable doubt that Dixson was the one sending the text messages or seen in the surveillance video as the trial continues.

An upper level disturbance passed over Southwest Louisiana Tuesday and that kept clouds around the area and even a few sprinkles during the morning.  But as expected, rain was very limited and that will remain true for the rest of the week.  Temperatures were held a few degrees cooler during the afternoon due to the clouds, but it was still rather warm with most areas reaching the low 90s.
