LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRE) -

Livingston Police officers arrested a 54-year-old man Saturday after he allegedly threw a phone book at his 78-year-old mother and hit her in the chest with an office chair after she confronted him about property he had taken.

Robert Dwain Brown, of Livingston, is still being held in the Polk County Jail on a third-degree felony charge of injury to the elderly and a Class A misdemeanor theft between $500 and $1,500 charge. Bail has been set at $35,000 for the injury to elderly charge. No bail has been set for the theft charge at this time.

According to Lt. Matt Parrish, a spokesman for the Livingston Police Department, the incident occurred on Oct. 17. Brown was staying at his mother's residence on Holly Street when she confronted him about some of her property - a TV and some jewelry - that had turned up missing.

Parrish said after Brown told his mother he had taken the property, they got into an argument. During the argument, Brown threw a phone book at his mother, striking her in the face.

As the argument continued to escalate, Brown allegedly picked up an office chair and struck his mother in the chest with it. The woman left the residence and called 911.

Brown's mother received minor injuries as a result of his alleged assault.
