Mardi Gras Boardwalk updates master plan

Good Tuesday morning to you!  Britney Glaser here in the KPLC 7Newsroom with a look at what's ahead on today's Sunrise:

*After years of pitches and failed negotiations, Mardi Gras Boardwalk is the closest the City of Lake Charles has been to creating new development along the lakefront.  KPLC's Lee Peck reports where they are with their master plan.

*New this morning: authorities in Vidor, Texas say a five-year-old boy is killed by what appears to be an accidental self-inflicted gunshot.  He was in the care of a babysitter when noise rang out.

*Lawsuits, funding concerns and questions of quality have not stopped the growth of Governor Bobby Jindal's voucher program, which added more than 1,800 students this year.  We'll look more deeply into that program.

*Topping national news, in a city bordering Reno, Nevada, friends and family are remembering the teacher killed by a middle school student armed with a handgun.  Police believe the boy got the gun from his parents.

Make it a Sunrise day!
