LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

According to the Longview Police Department, 17-year-old Genaro Villela and 20-year-old Francisco Benitez, both of Longview, were arrested Sunday after robbing a gas station and locking two store employees in a cooler.

Villela and Benitez entered the store, located in the 500 block of S. Mobberly Avenue, early Sunday morning. Police say one of the men was armed with a knife.

Upon entering the store, the men locked two female store employees inside a large cooler and began taking items, loading the items into a van parked outside. A police officer drove by while the robbery was taking place and stopped after seeing a man hide behind a vehicle.

The officer located containers inside the van filled with synthetic marijuana, cigars, and cigarettes.

Both men have been charged with aggravated robbery and remain in the Gregg County Jail with bond set at $50,000.
