LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese soccer team suffered a 3-0 shutout at the hands of Houston Baptist at Cowgirl Field on Sunday. 

The loss drops the Cowgirls to 5-7-1 overall and 0-5 in Southland Conference action on the season while the Huskies improved to 2-9-1 overall and 2-3 in league play.

Houston Baptist took an early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute off of a Molly Missimer goal from 25 yards out.

The Huskies added two more goals late in the second half to give McNeese its seventh straight shutout.

Houston Baptist outshot McNeese 22-6 on the day with both teams have six corner kicks apiece.

Junior Haley Lyons led the Cowgirls with two shots on the day, one of which was on goal.  Four other Cowgirls also took a shot in the game.

McNeese hits the road next week to take on defending SLC champion Stephen F. Austin on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. before coming back to Louisiana to face Northwestern State on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
