Participants in Saturday morning's YMCA Half-Marathon had an unexpected guest runner.

A chocolate lab named Boogie joined the runners just as the race started on Reitz Hill. Police say the dog managed to complete the entire course without assistance.

After crossing the finish line, he was picked up by animal control and taken to their shelter for some much needed rest.

Boogie did not officially register for the race, so officials do not have his race times.

Evansville Animal Care and Control tells us the owners and the dog have been reunited.

Boogie refused to comment when asked about potential sponsorship deals for his next race.
