SCOTLANDVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

The director of the Jewel Newman Community Center in Scotlandville, LA has been fired.

Metro-Councilwoman Chauna Banks-Daniel pushed for Carl Slaughter's termination.

Banks-Daniel blamed Slaughter for many of the problems at the community center. The center has been partially shut down for repairs for the last couple of weeks.

Slaughter's attorney says her client plans to appeal, and maintains the Parish attorney has no legal authority to fire him.
