Family of AZ firefighters await report on deaths

FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AP) -

As authorities prepare to release the investigative report into the deaths of 19 firefighters, the men's families are grappling with how much more they want to know.

Nineteen members of the Prescott-based Granite Mountain Hotshots died on June 30 when they were overcome by flames in the boulder-strewn mountains outside Yarnell.

Forestry officials and investigators plan to release the report to the firefighters' families Saturday morning ahead of a news conference in Prescott.

Travis Turbyfill's mother, Colleen, says she hopes it will help prevent a similar tragedy in the future but she's not even sure she'll read it right away.

Greg Fine's daughter was engaged to Grant McKee. Fine also would like the report to serve as a guide for firefighters and for people to avoid placing blame.
