McNeese lost its Southland opener to Nicholls on Friday, but returned home today with a chance to notch its first conference win against Southeastern.

The Cowgirls were very strong offensively throughout the game, dominating the ball  with a shot margin of 12 to 8 over the lions, but unfortunately, on a wet and muddy field thanks to this weekends storms, McNeese would never see the net. They fell behind 1 to zero after SLU forward Brianna Singh scored the game winning goal with ten minutes left, this ending McNeese's 5-0 home streak.

The Cowgirls had not been defeated at home since August 23rd, however they look to restart that streak next Sunday against Sam Houston State.
