More than 2,300 volunteers turned out for Hands on Nashville Day, the community's largest day of service for 63 schools in Davidson County.

Volunteers participated in painting and landscaping projects to beautify schools and make them better places for children to learn and play.

Blake Groves and his younger sister, Bailey, enjoyed helping out by painting playground equipment.

"I believe it really helps the community and it's good to bring everyone together. It teaches everyone to work as a team," Blake said.

Hands on Nashville celebrates its 22nd year of service, and 12th year partnership with Metro Nashville Public Schools.
