Car crashes into patrol vehicle during traffic stop

Samuel Jones Samuel Jones
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Two men allegedly tried to pull a fast one on police but ended up crashing into a patrol car in the middle of a traffic stop.

According to law enforcement, an officer noticed a car had a broken tail light and initiated a traffic stop. The car went to pull over to the side, and the officer followed.

While this was going on, the officer says the passenger and driver started switching seats. In the middle of the seat swap, the car got thrown into reverse and backed up right into the Metro Police car.

The man who jumped into the driver's seat was immediately placed in handcuffs and arrested. Samuel Jones, 26, was charged with vandalism.
