BLOOMBURG, TX (KSLA) -

The small town of Bloomburg, Texas has big reason to celebrate. The local high school football team got their first win on Saturday.

The school started 7-man football 4 years ago.

Their overall record is now 1 and 28, but the first victory outweighs any loss.

It's not over with, just because we won one game. The legacy starts after that first win," Wildcats head coach Andrew Rankin told the team following the win.

"They kids have fought for it," Rankin says. "We've fought for it. Myself and our athletic director, Heath Betten, we've been here from day one and it's been a rocky road. But it feels good to finally get that first win."

"We've came a long way from that first practice," says Bloomburg Senior Matt Hensley. "I mean, winning for the first time is great."

"Been expecting it for four years and we finally got it," says Senior Matthew Restelle.

"It's hopefully revitalized this program and show our opponents we're here to play," adds Rankin. "We've got a good squad. We have some very good athletes this year but it also hopefully will pick up the momentum for football here in Bloomburg."
