Arrest made after bar fight sends man to the hospital

The following is a news release from the Lake Charles Police Department:

On Saturday, September 14, 2013 the Lake Charles Police Department responded to a disturbance at a local business located on McNeese Street. (On The Rocks)

Upon arrival Officers found the victim who is an employee of the business on the floor and unresponsive. The victim was transported to a Lake Charles Memorial Hospital by Acadian Ambulance where he is listed in critical condition. 

Investigation revealed the victim was attempting to stop an argument between several individuals when he was struck.

The suspect Auston James Soileau, 19, was arrested at the scene and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Jail on 2nd Degree Battery. Bond has been set at $50,000.00 by Judge Clayton Davis.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Lake Charles Police Department at 337-491-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 337-439-2222.

Cpl. Clayton Fontenot handled the initial investigation and Det. Dustin Gaudet is handling the follow up investigation.

    The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office wants to warn those thinking about homecoming pranks. Last week, on Monday CPSO, received two complaints, one on Dietrich Loop and one on Toulouse Drive, both in Lake Charles, in reference to students from a local high school causing damage to the residences.
