Body found in shallow grave positively identified as Tony Procell

SABINE PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Sabine Parish Coroner Ron Rivers said using dental records, the body found on Sunday in a shallow grave in Winn Parish is that of Tony Procell.

Rivers said he got the confirmation Friday morning from the forensic dentist working on the Procell case.

The 25-year-old Procell went missing on August 20 after he was allegedly kidnapped by Natchitoches Police Officer Robert Barthelemy. He remains in jail on charges of aggravated kidnapping, home invasion and 1st degree murder.

Rivers said work continues by forensic specialists from LSU Baton Rouge to reconstruct Procell's face. He said that work is taking time because the severe blunt force trauma on Procell's face resulted in numerous small bone fragments. Roberts hopes the reconstruction will help determine what kind of weapon was used to kill Procell.

Roberts is working to return Procell's body back to his family next week so they make funeral arraignments.
