Suspect sought in Lake Charles homicide

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Lake Charles Police are investing a homicide.

According to a news release from the department, it happened at 11:27 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of Bank Street.

Officers responded to several calls in reference to gunshots being fired.

They arrived to find a man down on the sidewalk bleeding from a gunshot wound. 

Authorities said the victim, later identified as 32-year-old Damion Derrelle Jackson, was transported to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital by Acadian Ambulance Service where he died as a result of his injuries.

Authorities said Jackson, originally from Fontana, Calif., moved to Lake Charles in 2011. 

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and additional details will be released as they develop.
