Lafayette authorities are investigating a homicide.

According to a news release from the Lafayette Police Department, at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 1300 block of West University Avenue.

According to investigators, a white female, later identified as 27-year-old Victoria Neely, of Lafayette, was found shot in the apartment.

Investigators developed a person of interest in the case and received a tip that the person was at a residence at the corner of Lamar and Cleveland streets.

Upon arrival, officers located the body of a white male, deceased from a gunshot wound. The man was later identified as 38-year-old David Brannon. He is believed to be the person of interest, and authorities believe the two incidents are related.

Lafayette Police are asking anyone with information to contact the department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
