The McNeese soccer team continues its six-game homestand Sunday when the Cowgirls welcome Jackson State for a 1 p.m. matchup.

"Jackson State is a talented team that really competed with us least season," said head coach Scooter Savoie. "It took us awhile to adjust and get them to play to the tempo that we wanted. We are going to have to work hard and stay focus throughout the whole game."

McNeese is coming off a 1-0 loss to Jacksonville State in its season opener Friday night. Senior Callie Allbright and freshmen Kathryn Danhauser and Kayla Goedicke led the team with three shots apiece.

Jackson State dropped its season opener to Southeastern Louisiana on Friday, falling to the Lady Lions, 3-1. Sophomore Shatiaunna Banks netted the Lady Tigers only goal in the game.

This will be the third meeting between the two teams with the Cowgirls holding a 2-0 advantage in the series. McNeese scored the 2-0 victory over Jackson State last season.

The Cowgirls return to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they take on Texas Southern.
