McNeese's volleyball team is predicted to finish in 10th place in the Southland Conference preseason polls as selected by the league's coaches and sports information directors.

The Cowgirls return eight letterwinners and five starters from a team that posted a 7-25 record and finished 10th in the league last season.
 
Of those five starters, the Cowgirls return lone senior Courtni Bauer, the 2012 Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year. The Cowgirls also return starters in Maegan Carlton, Rachel Cagnina, Amber Fryer and Kelly Graham. McNeese also has eight newcomers that will compete for a starting position.
 
Central Arkansas, the defending regular season and conference tournament champions have been picked to defend its title. The Sugar Bears received eight first place votes. Oral Roberts is picked second with Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin tied for third in the coaches poll. The remaining coaches poll has Northwestern State picked fifth followed by Houston Baptist, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Lamar, Southeastern La., McNeese, Nicholls and New Orleans.
 
The SID's agreed on the top spot with Central Arkansas but have Sam Houston State picked to finish second. Northwestern State is picked third followed by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Oral Roberts, Stephen F. Austin, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Southeastern La., McNeese, Nicholls and New Orleans.
McNeese begins their season Aug. 30-31 at the DePaul Invitational.
