2-A-Days Preview: Arkansas High School

TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) -

Arkansas High School head coach Todd Ledford evaluated his team from a distance Tuesday at football practice. He watched every snap closely, seeing the hard work his team has put into practice so far this fall.

"I'm proud of our bunch," said Ledford. "The last two weeks have been about as good as we can ask for right now."

The Razorbacks return seven starters who were underclassman last year, getting another year older and another year more mature. Ledford said those players will be the difference during the grind of a difficult schedule.

"You've got people like El Dorado, Lake Hamilton, Pine Bluff. And in non-district we're playing Bossier Parkway this year and of course Texas High and Greenbrier. But if you want to coach her and play here you know you'll have a tough schedule."

The big red pin will circle that Texas High game on the schedule which is the first game of the season. The pressure of the city battle brings an immediacy to preseason camp.

"For a lot of people in town it's a big game and it is for our kids and our coaches, and it's the same over there. It's kind of like it's own animal as far as that goes," said Ledford. "Our teams goal, we set it high. We want to win a state championship and there's a lot of work to get there."
