Monica Grimaldo joined KPLC-TV in August 2013.

She is originally from Houston,  where she received her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in Spanish from the University of Houston. While in school, she served as an intern at WFLD-TV in Chicago as well as a reporter for HoustonPBS. She was also a reporter for one of the largest Latino-based media networks at the University of Houston.

When she's not reporting, she enjoys spending time with close friends and family. She enjoys traveling, music concerts and festivals and loves to shop for shoes. Monica is new to the Southwest Louisiana area and she loves making new friends.

    An auction benefit was held in honor of Jennings police officer Ricky Benoit, who was shot in the neck while responding to a domestic disturbance call late June."It's very emotional," said Jennings Police Chief Todd D'Albor.
