Memorial service today for slain bank hostages

Good Tuesday morning to you!  Britney Glaser here in the KPLC 7Newsroom with a look at what's ahead on today's Sunrise:

*A memorial prayer service is planned today for the two bank employees who died after being held hostage last week.  We'll have the details on the service happening tonight in St. Joseph.

*Plans are underway today to open up  new community garden on Hagan Street in Lake Charles.  The purpose is to provide fresh food access to residents in North Lake Charles.

*Louisiana's Chimp Haven is getting a major boost: a $2.6 million construction project.  Find out how it will be used for 60 chimpanzees retiring from the New Iberia Research Center.

*The Calcasieu Parish School Board is changing its ID badge system.  The goal is to make schools safer for students and employees.  See how it works in a report this morning.

*Say farewell to lower humidity:(  Meteorologist Ben Terry will have a look at the changing weather pattern.

    During a house fire, every second counts so, in an effort to reduce the number of house fires across the area, the Red Cross is teaming up with local fire departments to install free smoke alarms. It’s all part of its national 'Home Fire Campaign' in an effort to make sure every resident across Southwest Louisiana has a working smoke alarm.     It might be one of the most under appreciated jobs: caring for a loved one at the end of life.  Sherry Livingston's parents are 85 and 82. They're suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia. "It's a privilege to be able to walk with them in the last days of their journey," said Livingston. "But, it's taken a toll."
