LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The hiring of former Aeroframe employees by AAR has started, according to AAR Vice President of Technical Services, Danny Martinez.

Martinez tells KPLC that AAR will start processing the first 40 employees into orientation on Tuesday. On Thursday, 40 more will be added and the process will continue, he said.

Martinez said roughly 160 people have been contacted and hired, and orientation will be held over the next two weeks.

Martinez said the roughly 160 people will be enough to work the lean operation that's still on the facility. He said there are planes on the grounds that need to be worked on.

Martinez said "the majority, if not all" of the people hired in this first batch are former Aeroframe employees.

Chennault recently announced a new partnership with AAR.

As a result of the partnership, Chennault's long-term lease with Aeroframe was terminated at Aeroframe's request.
