LEBANON, TN (WSMV) -

One of Middle Tennessee's most popular events, the Wilson County Fair, gets under way Friday.

From funnel cakes to Ferris wheels and farm animals, the Wilson County Fair is known for its southern charm and old-style attractions.

Workers are still adding the finishing touches for the event that brings in thousands of people from all over the state.

Organizers said the fair continues to live up to its expectations.

"We've got a lot of people who work hard to make it live up to it's reputation," said Hale Moss, president of the Wilson County Fair. "This fair is a reflection of our community and our county. It's grown into a project that a lot of people take a lot of pride in."

If you're heading to the fair, this year you can take the Music City Star train from Nashville to Lebanon for $20.

Admission to the fair is $7 for adults and $5 for kids.

The Wilson County Fair opens Friday at 5 p.m. and continues through Aug. 24.
