LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. announced Wednesday that it has completed its acquisition of Ameristar Casinos Inc.

The transaction is valued at about $2.8 billion, including assumed debt.

This means Pinnacle adds eight properties and will operate a total of 16 in nine states - this does not include the Ameristar Lake Charles property.

As KPLC has reported previously, Pinnacle has already entered into an agreement to sell that development to Golden Nugget which plans on completing the project.

Pinnacle expects to complete the Lake Charles deal by the end of this year.
