5-year-old missing from school may have been stuck with needle

(WMC-TV) - An elementary student who went missing from school last week may have been stuck with a needle by a stranger.

According to the student's mother, doctors are confirming the child's story.

"The most concern was that test right there," stated mother Tyrese Oliver.

Oliver says her daughter, Ta-Keira Davis, took an AIDS test Thursday.

The 5-year-old said a woman lured her out of Westside Elementary School and stuck her with a needle.

"I don't know her name, but she was holding my hand. She was holding my hand tight," said the little girl Thursday after the incident.

Davis was missing from school for a half-hour.  She was found one mile away at a fire station.

The police report shows a concerned parent saw the girl walking in circles a few blocks from the school and she drove her to the fire station.

"The only people who know what happened are the lady and my child," continued Oliver.

Oliver also said her daughter has been quiet since the incident. She believes her.

"I think it's true," affirmed Oliver.

The medical record lists the reason for Davis' visit as a "needle exposure...needle stick".  Yet, it does not say if her thumb showed a puncture.

"They don't know if she got injected or she just stuck her. ...They were just telling me to call back Monday so I can get the results," explained Oliver.

Meanwhile, Oliver is worried about sending her daughter back to school.

Thursday's police report stated, "no further action is required." However, Oliver confirmed police did contacted her Friday to talk with her daughter about the incident.
