Officials release identity of teen who drowned at Cajun Lagoon

WATSON, LA (WAFB) -

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed the identity of the 14-year-old boy who drowned at Cajun Lagoon Tuesday afternoon.

The child is identified as Nicholas Kissner of Port Allen, LA.

It happened around 1 p.m. Medical personnel tried to resuscitate the teenager, but was unsuccessful and was pronounced dead.

According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, initial reports are that the cause of death is accidental death by drowning and no foul play is suspected.

A park spokesman says the boy was with members of a youth church group and that he was found by others in the group alongside one of the lagoon's banks.

The spokesman added that the lagoon is man made and five certified lifeguards were on duty at the time of the drowning.

Due to this case being an ongoing investigation no further information can be released at this time.

Cajun Lagoon is located at 32347 LA Hwy 16 in Watson. The water park opened in April of this year.
