Paralympic medalist leads volleyball clinic for wounded soldiers

FORT POLK, LA (KPLC) -

Fort Polk soldiers in the Warrior Transition Unit are participating in a sitting volleyball clinic led by two-time USA Paralympic Volleyball medalist, Kari Miller.

The WTU focuses on the recovery and rehabilitation of injured soldiers whether that injury be physical, mental or behavioral.

Miller is a double-amputee who won Silver Medals on the USA Paralympic Volleyball team in Beijing and London.

She says being able to give back to soldiers through the adaptive sports that helped her recover is her main mission.

Soldiers participating in the clinic say it helps put in perspective that although they may be facing some injury setback, they can still do the things they love.

KPLC's Gerron Jordan will have more on 7News at 6.
