KINGMAN, AZ (CBS5) -

Authorities lifted an evacuation order for people who left their homes due to a wildfire in mountains outside of Kingman.

Fire officials say people are being allowed to return home because crews have made significant progress fighting the 8-square-mile Dean Peak fire in the Hualapai Mountains.

Protection lines on the lightning-sparked fire have held despite windy conditions.

The blaze was 65 percent contained by Sunday morning.

People from the communities of Pine Lake, Pinion Pines and Getz Ranch are now allowed to return to their homes. About 350 homes were evacuated.

The wildfire began June 29 about 10 miles southeast of Kingman.

Crews on the Dean Peak Fire observed a moment of silence Friday in remembrance of the 11 Kingman volunteer firefighters who died 40 years ago.

On July 5, 1973, the 11 firefighters were killed when a rail tank car containing 30,000 gallons of propane caught fire, and later exploded.

The city of Kingman held a memorial Friday at 6 p.m. at Firefighter's Park in Kingman near the Mohave County Fairgrounds.
