Man wounded in early morning shooting in Lake Charles, suspect arrested

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A man was wounded in an early morning shooting, according to a news release from the Lake Charles Police Department.

Authorities said at around 12:40 a.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of 18th Street in reference to the incident.

Upon arrival, authorities said officers found the victim, who reportedly had a non-life threatening injury. He was transported to a local hospital.

Authorities said also at the scene was 24-year-old Benjamin Lawrence Lannin, of Lake Charles, later identified as the shooting suspect.

Lannin allegedly shot the man during an argument. He has been charged with aggravated battery.

Bond has not been set in the case.

    A gym full of Orchids brightened up the Church of the Good Shepard today.  The Calcasieu Orchid Society held it's first ever show, free to the public.  There were displays, as well as orchids and artwork to buy, even a competition for cut arrangements and just general beauty.
