Extended hours at Saltwater Barrier this week

CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

There will be extended hours this week for the Saltwater Barrier with the expected influx of boat traffic for the Fourth of July holiday.

According to Calcasieu Parish Police Juror Hal McMillin, the hours will be as follows:

Thursday, July 4: 7 a.m. - Midnight

Friday, July 5: 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Saturday, July 6: 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Sunday, July 7: 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.

McMillin added that officials are working with the U.S. Corps of Engineers to extend hours through the entire summer. He said he expects to have more information at the Police Jury's regular meeting on July 11.

    A man who climbed an interstate sign on I-10 in Sulphur has now surrendered, according to Sulphur police. Early Tuesday morning, I-10 eastbound lanes on Beglis Parkway were blocked due to authorities and negotiators attempting to get the man down, says Sulphur police.
