NATCHITOCHES, LA (KPLC) - Some think that greatness is a given for someone like Shaquille O'Neal, a 15-time NBA All-Star, four-time champion, three-time NBA Finals MVP and one of the most dominant players to ever grace a basketball court.
But at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, where he was honored for his time at LSU and beyond, we found out that even the 7-1 Shaq needed encouragement.
And once committing, it took one trip to convince him Louisiana was the place for him.
Also inducted was Leesville native and LSU football great Kevin Mawae, who did the dirty work as an eight-time pro bowl center in the NFL. He was a staple in the league for 16 seasons thanks to his work ethic he developed at a young age.
And for a military kid who dreamed big, the outcome was one bigger.
