ST. MARTIN PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

A Guy's Towing tow truck operator died early Sunday morning after a hit-and-run crash. The crash occurred on I-10 in St. Martin Parish.

A Texas man is in jail for vehicular homicide.

At 2:23 a.m., 25-year-old Blaze Louviere, of Breaux Bridge, was standing on the shoulder of I-10 Westbound near his tow truck attempting to remove a disabled vehicle.

Authorities said 24-year-old Luis Molina struck Louviere and left the scene.

Witnesses followed Molina until police arrived.

Louviere was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced dead a few hours later.

Molina was not injured in the crash and he was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Officials said the crash remains under investigation.

Below is a statement from Guy's Towing:

"Guy's Towing Service, Inc. has for decades served the communities of south Louisiana and aided in protecting the motoring public in its untiring effort to eliminate drunk driving and the tragedies that follow. Today Guy's lost one of its own family members to a drunk driver. Today is a day we will never forget as we mourn the loss of Blaze Louviere, a young man who's life was needlessly taken by a drunk driver while assisting one of his own on I-10 early this morning."
