OBERLIN, LA (KPLC) -

An Oberlin man is in jail accused of killing his wife.

According to Allen Parish Sheriff Doug Hebert, Joseph Eric Vercher, 45, went to the Sheriff's Office around 1:30 a.m. Saturday and confessed to killing Rachel Denise Vercher, 35.

Hebert said Vercher told deputies he stabbed his wife multiple times, including slashing her throat after an argument.

Vercher then reportedly led deputies to a wooded area where he dumped her body.

Vercher is charged with manslaughter.

No bond has been set.

Hebert said prior to this, Vercher had no criminal record.
