Lafayette Parish Courthouse undergoing elevator upgrades

The Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) has announced that construction has begun at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse. The project to upgrade two elevators is expected to cost $634,500 and is being handled by Bulliard Construction Company.

According to a news release from the LCG, the elevators will return to service in September. Meanwhile, the project is expected to cause delays at the Courthouse, and officials urge the public to allow extra time for all appointments. The LCG recommends arriving 30-60 minutes early.

In recent years, the LCG has completed several renovations to the courthouse, including replacement of the air conditioners and chillers, fire alarm replacement, and roof replacement.

In July of 2013, the LCG is scheduled to open bids for the 6th/7th Floors Asbestos Abatement/Demolition and 7th Floor Shell-Out Project at an estimated cost of $1,400,000.
