CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

A Sulphur man, already facing assault and stalking charges, is facing additional charges, according to a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

Kristian J. Gaudet, 36, was arrested June 18 after authorities said he stalked an ex-acquaintance for several days.

Gaudet is accused of attempting to run over the individual and another person outside of a Sulphur nightclub.

Gaudet was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of stalking in relation to the incident.

Authorities, however, said detectives continued their investigation. Detectives reportedly learned that during the early morning hours of June 17, the same ex-acquaintance was leaving her place of employment with another woman. The women were reportedly walking to their vehicle in the parking lot when Gaudet came toward them in a vehicle at a high rate of speed.

"Both victims advised detectives they had to turn around and run back toward the business to avoid being struck by Gaudet," the news release states.

Authorities said Gaudet was rearrested on Wednesday, booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with an additional two counts of aggravated assault and one count of stalking.

Bond was set at $3,000 by Judge Wilford Carter.

To start off our week, we will have another hot and sunny day. There will be a few clouds that build up this afternoon, but the rain chances are slim to none. Temperatures will once again be very hot. Highs will reach the mid 90s. Some area north of I-10 could reach the upper 90s. Heat indices will also be in the triple digits. A heat advisory will likely be issued. If you are planning on spending time outdoors, I recommend taking caution in the heat.
