LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal stabbing.

According to Sheriff Tony Mancuso, around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, deputies were dispatched to a mobile home located at 101 Tousaint Road, Lot 91, in Lake Charles, in reference to a stabbing.

When deputies arrived, they discovered 42-year-old Gregory Bryant on the floor with a stab wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to authorities, further investigation revealed that Bryant and his roommate, Michael Brown, 54, had an argument when Brown armed himself with a knife and stabbed Bryant.

Authorities said Brown fled the scene on foot and was located by deputies a short time later.

Brown confirmed he stabbed Bryant, authorities said.

According to witnesses, the two had been out together at a local nightclub and had been arguing throughout the evening. The argument escalated once they returned home. Authorities said the argument was allegedly about money.

Brown was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is being charged with second-degree murder. Bond is set at $1.5 million.
